ONE-HANDED LIVING

THIS WILL BE SHORT! Hunt and peck with one hand is the PITTS! Had surgery on my right hand to rebuild the big thumb joint and pin the little finger. It is quite a challenge to function without the dominate hand. Can anyone tell me how to put lotion on one's left hand without a right hand? I tried a photo of my hand - no luck. I have a soft cast now, will have a hard cast come Monday. It will stay on for two or three weeks, then I will have custom splints for a couple more weeks. Then it will be rehab and try to learn to use it again. No piano or organ for a while Argggggg. Love to all What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

The trip to Cedar City was a good thing. The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged was a hoot. Haven't laughed so hard for quite a spell. They even managed to get "there's a church in every direction and green Jello" into the script. Fred Adams had a cameo appearance and got the show off to a humorous start. Linda and I had lunch at the 'Bards' before the show and had dinner at Mickleson's in Nephi on the way home. Here we are posed in front of the Shakespearean Theatre in Cedar City
Linda & Jewel
I joined Paul and Linda for a visit to Anna, Texas this past weekend. T.J. was baptized on Saturday Oct 10, 2009 and Kara was blessed on Sunday. What a great experience. Triston did both baptism and blessing. We were treated to TEXAS BAR-BQ! Amy, the camera Queen, got some great photographs.

I came home on Monday. Chili nearly wagged her tail off and I was happy to see her too.
The bed is calling. That is all for today.
P.S. I just couldn't add the photo of my plate heaped with Texas BarBQ.

Snow, wonderful snow! At least Timp got a good covering. I'm reduced to typing the one-finger style. Chili's chain collar and Jewel's right little finger had a little conflict and the finger lost. It is broken at the neck of the first joint. Too much arthrities to do anything with it but put on a 'buddy' splint. Doc says it will take at least six weeks to heal ooooO. Linda and I plan a trip to Cedar City Saturday to see the complete works of Shakespeare. I think I will back out if it is snowing. Am looking forward to a visit at the Whetten's the weekend of Oct 9th.

First Blog

Hey, everyone, Guess who helped me set up this blog? Answer at the end, but I did not do it alone.
Amy, Thank you for setting up Bessie Blog. I have already had a good time catching up on family news. Went for a walk today at the Timpanogos Park. It was a beautiful sunny day. I had Chili along with me and a surprise person.

Yesterday, went to BYU to see a Victorian Art exhibit. A ward member invited me to go with her. The paintings were very impressive. The campus has changed a lot since I last visited it. I drove to Oakley the other day, taking 4 friends along. (For those of you who know them - it was Bella Evans, Fay Jepson, Kaye Gygi and her granddaughter.) We had lunch at a real diner, like the ones you see in old movies that look like a train car. The leaves are starting to turn to red, orange, yellow and just plain old brown.

I have good company here for awhile and it is nice to have someone around the house. FYI I plan to travel to Texas to visit A. and family the 2nd week-end in October. It will be exciting to see the family and learn more about each of them. A. can tell you why. I will fly down with Paul and Linda, but come home sooner than they will. Can't leave Chili too long. It costs too much.

Did you guess my 'helper'and house guest? See her above. Madi or Chili?
